Bessie Hawthorn, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James M. Hawthorn, died at the family home Wednesday morning of scarlet fever. All of the children in the family have been down with the same trouble, and Miss Bessie's case was not especially serious until Saturday, when complications set in. She was about eighteen years of age, a graduate of the High School in the class of 1900, a sweet singer and a most attractive girl. Because of the contagiousness of her illness, the funeral was conducted from the house Wednesday afternoon at four o'clock.
