From Story County Watchman September 27, 1878

Will C. Eddy a young lawyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. Eddy, aged about 25 years, died at his home in Ames, last Sunday evening, of brain fever, after an illness of a few weeks.

He graduated at the Iowa School of Law about a year ago and entered upon the practice of his profession with bright promises for the future, but he had been stricken down in the bloom of his youth and the hopes and anticipations of his fond parents, only sister, and numerous friends, are cut short by the visitation of the angel of death.

The deceased a few years ago, worked for some months in the office of the writer, and we had a good opportunity to study his character, and always found him to be a young man of the greatest honor and integrity and always reliable. He possessed an active mind and had he lived, no doubt would have made a shining light in his profession.
