THE TRI-COUNTY TIMES, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, October 21 2010.

MAXWELL – Eunice Marie Ives, 83, of Maxwell, died Friday, October 15, 2010 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa.

Eunice was born July 21, 1927 at Royal, Iowa, the daughter of T. Alfred and Barbara (Litt) Glackin. Eunice graduated from Everly High School and attended Iowa State University. She was united in marriage to Forrest Earl (“Frosty”) Ives on April 24, 1945 at Algona, Iowa. Frosty died in November 1999. Eunice had taught school near Spencer, Iowa and later worked in food services management. She was a member of the Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Elkhart and was active in many community organizations. Eunice was passionate about cooking, gardening and family.

She is survived by two sons: Kenneth (Patricia) Ives of Nokesville, Virginia, Steven (Dorothy) Ives of Durand, Michigan; two daughters: Peggy (Michael Hulbert) Ives of Johnston, Iowa, Carol (Gary) Ives-Holmes of Loves Park, Illinois; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters: Rose Vancura of Lakefield, Minnesota, Mary Ann Stumbo of Rockwell City, Iowa, and Irene Conlon of Ruthven, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. Eunice is also survived by her foreign exchange sons and daughters: Metta, Jackie, Ruth, Dirk, Mathias, Toby, Alex, Tara, Suvi, Paul, Simon, Pradeep and Kumar.

Eunice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; nine brothers: Bernard, Herbert, L. Michael, Harold, Thomas, Alvin, Joseph, Jerome, Benjamin; and a foreign exchange son: Dr. Karl Rabe.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Elkhart. Burial will be in the Maxwell Cemetery.

Visitation was Wednesday evening at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell, with a vigil and rosary service.

The Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell is handling arrangements.
