The Record, Roland, Story County, Iowa, Friday, September 10, 1897.

Mrs. Mary Tjernagle died at the home of her son, Christian Logan north of Roland, Thursday, Sept. 2d, aged over 87 years. Ms. Tjernagle came to this county from Norway about 40 years ago, and has spent the greater part of her residence in America, in Hamilton county, Iowa, on a farm not far from the Story county line.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Sandven, at Salem's church in Roland, Saturday afternoon. The services were attended by a large concourse of loving friends and neighbors, who had known the deceased for years and had learned to love her kindly, christan-like spirit. The families of her three sons, Christian, Andrew and Andres were all present at the funeral, as was that of the only daughter, Mrs. Nelson of Story City. The sons, daughters, and grand-children all receive the profound sympathy of their friends.
