The Record, Roland, Story County, Iowa, Friday, October 8, 1897.

DIED - Last Monday afternoon, N. C. Johnson, a well-known and respected citizen, of this place. Mr. Johnson, or "Nick," as he was better known, has been a sufferer of that dreaded disease, consumption, for many years, and although he tried everything that might prove beneficial to him, he could get no relief. The past few months we was compelled to abandon his work, that of buttermaker at Boardman's creamery, and made a trip to Texas in company with Severt Erickson, in search of health, but neither of them found the change beneficial. He was a kind husband and father, a good neighbor and a faithful employe. He leaves a widow and large family of small children, whom he had previously provided for, in case of his death, with life insurance amounting to three thousand dollars. The funeral services were conducted Tuesday by Rev. Sandven and were largely attended.
