Johannes Olaus Twedt was born on the old Hans H. Twedt homestead one mile east and one half mile north of Roland, August 12, 1879, and died at his home near McCallsburg on Wednesday evening, April 20, 1910 being 30 years, 8 months and 8 days old when he was called into the Great Beyond. On March 10, 1907 he was united in marriage to Miss Malinda Nelson, to which union a daughter was born, who with its mother is left to mourn the untimely death of a kind husband and a loving father.

Two weeks ago yesterday, Mr. Twedt was in Roland and attended to his usual trading and toward evening drove home, feeling as well as usual. During the night he was taken violently sick with an attack of appendicitis and for several days he was so low, that no operation could be attempted. On Tuesday, he was operated upon by Drs. Rice and Herem, and the operation appeared to be successful, but the next day he passed away, septic peritonitis having set in.

Besides his wife and child, he leaves an aged mother, Mrs. Jorine Twedt, and three sisters and four brothers to mourn his death they are Mrs. Hattie D. Harlow, of Spokane, Wash., Abel H. Twedt, of near this place; Mrs. Jane Amdall, of Dallas, Wis., Joe H., Sam H., Andrew H., Henry H. and Mrs. Julia Osheim all of whom are living in the immediate vicinity. He also leaves numerous other relatives to mourn his death. His father died about eight years ago.

The funeral was held from Bergen church on Saturday, a very large number of people being present to pay their last respects to one who was respected by all who knew him. The floral offerings were many and very pretty. After the funeral service at the church, the remains were interred in the Roland cemetery. The sorrowing wife, child, and numerous other relatives have the sincere sympathy extended to them in the hour of their great sorrow.
