Funeral of Well Known Young Man of This Place Was Held Last Thursday Afternoon From Bergen Church, Many Friends Being Present
The funeral of O. M. Olson was held from Salem church last Thursday afternoon, Rev. J. N. Sandven officiating, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Roland cemetery. The church was filled with many friends and relatives who wished to pay their last respects to a friend.
Ole Martin Olson was born in Norway, Europe, on May 20, 1870, and died on Monday, April 18, 1910, being at his death 39 years, 10 months and 28 days old. The deceased was a son of Mrs. Ingeborg Marie Sheldahl who now is left to mourn the death of a kind and lovable son who supported her in her advanced years. He came with his parents to this country in 1877 and has since lived here with the exception of a few years spent in Des Moines. He was a quiet and unassuming young man and was highly respected by all who knew him. On the day of his death, he was working at the M. N. Grove home doing some painting and paperhanging, when toward evening he became violently ill. Dr. Rice was summoned from a sick call in the country but when he arrived death was so near that he was unable to save his life. He passed away after being ill only about an hour. For many years he has been sickly, but the news of his death came as a shock to all.
Besides his aged mother, he leaves three brothers and one sister to mourn his death besides numerous other relatives. They are Ole A. Sevareid, of Brooten, Minn., A. J. Olson of this place, Mrs. Mary Wierson, also of this place, Severt O. Olson of near Belgrade, Minn. They were all present at the funeral.
The Record extends to the sorrowing mother and other relatives its sincere sympathy in the hour of their bereavement.
