Young Mother Passes Away

L. T. Olson and daughter Elsie were called to Kanawha last Friday evening by the serious illness of his daughter, Mrs. Martha Anfinson. Word has since been received that Mrs. Anfinson died Sunday. We hope to be able to give particulars next week.

Young Mother Laid to Rest

Former Resident of This Place Passes Away After Several Months of Suffering - Daughter of Well-Known Farmer of This Community

Mrs. Martha Anfinson was born on her father's farm three miles north of Roland, November 30, 1875 and died at her home near Holmes, Iowa, Sunday, June 20, 1909, being 33 years, 6 months and 20 days old when called to her rest. She was a daughter of L. T. Olson, of this place, and grew to womanhood here, and was one of the respected young ladies of the community. In February 1898, she was married to Carl Anfinson, formerly of Cambridge, but when married they moved to a farm near Holmes, where they have since resided. Besides her sorrowing husband, she leaves three daughters, Ellen, Beulah and Cora, her father, L. T. Olson, one brother Otis, and five sisters, Mrs. Walter Hermanson, Carrie, Elsie, Lena and Hannah, and numerous friends and relatives.

About six months ago, she was taken sick and has since been very poorly, until lately when she grew worse and hopes for her recovery were abandoned. Her father and sister, Elsie, were at her bedside when she died having been called a couple days previous.

The funeral services were held from the United Lutheran church near Clarion on Wednesday, Rev. H. C. Holm officiating. Her father, sisters and brother were at the funeral. Miss Carrie Olson, having come from Chicago, where she is studying at the Moody Institute. The sorrowing ones are extended the sincere sympathy of a large circle of friends.
