Sept. 10, 1924 - March 19, 2010

Dorothea Lorraine Lauridsen, 85, of Glidden, died Friday, March 19, 2010, at the Heartwood House Care Center in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, at the United Church of Ralston. Burial will be in Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 22, at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden, where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, to lie in state until the time of service.

Visitation and a prayer service were Monday, March 22, at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden.

Dorothea Lorraine Linn was born Sept. 10, 1924, on a farm outside of Ralston, to Harmon and Faye (Sexton) Linn. Dot graduated from Glidden Consolidated School in 1943. After high school, she received her cosmetology license and worked in this field for the next several years.

She married Douglas Sivadge in November 1950. To this union was born daughter, Denise, in 1954. Doug died unexpectedly in October 1954. In March 1958, she married Charles Lauridsen. They had four children together, Ellen, John, Jim and Becky.

She was an excellent wife, mother and homemaker. She had an adventurous spirit and a strong sense of family.

She is survived by her children, Denise Lauridsen, Ellen Lauridsen O’Loughlin, John (Joyce) Lauridsen, and Jim (Michelle) Lauridsen; eight grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Anna Palmtag, Darlene Linn and Roberta Linn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Becky; her husbands; her parents; one sister, Pauline Caskey; and three brothers, Dale, Dean and Harmon Jr.
