FORMER PIONEER RESIDENT IS GONE

MRS. HATTIE DICKINSON DIED AT HOME OF DAUGHTER IN CALIFORNIA

Mrs. Hattie Dickinson, a former pioneer resident of this community, died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Blanche Eason, in San Francisco, Cal. Mrs. Eason is bringing the body to Story City, where the funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at Grace Evengelical church, with interment in the Story City cemetery. Rev. C. L. Fuller will be in charge and will be assisted by Rev. H. K. Hawley of Ames.

Mrs. Hattie Dickinson was born at Lisbon, Ill., on June 2, 1857, and died in California June 25, 1932, at the age of 75 years and 23 days. Her parents were Knut and Britta Johnson (Twedt). The family came here with the group of pioneers who came in 1858 and the settled on the Johnson homestead three miles west of Roland where she was reared.

She was married in 1883 to R. S. Dickinson, who died four years ago. They lived much of the time in this vicinity and at Story City and GIlbert.

She is survived by seven children, K. A. Dickinson of Ames, Orin Dickinson of Roland, Mrs. Bertha Sawyer of Jewell, R. H . Dickinson of Nevada, A. L. Dickinson of Gilbert, Mrs. Frances Nelson of Ames, and Mrs. Blance Eason of San Francisco. Two children have died, Mary at the age of 4, and Katie at 16 years.

She is also survived by two brothers, James K. Johnson of Story City and Jonas K. Johnson of Randall, a sister, Miss Anna K. Johnson of Story City, and 11 grandchildren.
