YOUNG GIRL DIED MONDAY
ARLENE HOVICK HAD BEEN ILL FOR SEVERAL WEEKS AT HOSPITAL
Miss Arlene Hovick, 13 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hovick, died about 10 o'clock Monday forenoon at the home of her parents following several weeks illness with hemorrhages.
She had always been active and in good health until six weeks ago, when she was afflicted with bleeding. Her condition became worse and four weeks ago she was removed to the hospital in Story City, where she was given three blood transfusions in an effort to get her back into normal condition. Her sister, Miss Olive Hovick, furnished the blood on each occasion.
She was brought back to her home Saturday and continued to be in a critical condition and she died the following Monday morning.
Arlene Thelma Hovick was born near Story City September 8, 1918, and died June 27, 1932, at the age of 13 years, 9 months and 19 days.
She moved to the community with her parents in 1925 to the farm three miles southeast of Roland. She attended the McCallsburg consolidated school and was a member of the class that graduated from the eighth grade this spring. She was fond of her school work and spent much of her time in reading.
She is survived by her parents and eight brothers and sisters, Olive, John, Milo, Harold, Raymond, Alvina, Richard and Theroy. One sister, Arlene Thelma, after whom she was named, died September 10, 1917, at the age of two years.
The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 at the Hovick home and at 2:00 o'clock in Salem church, with Rev. Olaf Holen in charge. Interment will be made in the cemetery in Story City.
