THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, August 5, 2009.

James (Jim) B. Parris, 43, of Nichols, and formerly of rural Gilbert, died of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. The family will greet friends from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Jim was born June 17, 1966, in Ames, to John and Sheryl Parris. He had been a member of Boy Scouts of America. He graduated from Gilbert High School in 1985, where he played in the jazz band, ran track and field, and played football. He loved fishing, and was an avid Cyclone fan.

He was employed in West Branch at the Proctor and Gamble distribution center.

He is survived by mother and stepfather, Sheryl Parris O’Connor and Darwin O’Connor, of Carroll; one brother, Jeffrey (Paula) Parris, of Jefferson; one sister, Stacie Parris Wright, of Nevada; two nephews, Nicholas (fianceč, Mindy) Parris, of Ames, and Nathan Parris, of Boone; two nieces, Melissa (Joseph) Maas, of Manning, and Miranda Parris, of Jefferson; aunt and uncle, Joan and Keith Zierke, of Clive; aunt and uncle, Tom and Pat Hoke, of Jacksonville, Fla.; and best friend since childhood, Chris Covall, of Ames.

He was preceded in death by his dad, John, in 1984; uncle, Ronald Hoke; maternal grandparents, Vera and Marion Hoke; and paternal grandparents, Butler and Inez Parris.
