Lyla Hauge, 91, of Story City, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, at Bickford Cottage in Ames. Funeral services are pending with Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.

Lyla I. Hauge, 91, of Story City, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, at Bickford Cottage in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday Aug. 8, at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall. Burial will follow in Story City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.
Lyla was born May 13, 1918, in Rake, to James and Sella (Teigland) Quam. She married Gaylord Hauge Aug. 17, 1941. She enjoyed baking and sewing. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for more than 30 years and then at Elim Lutheran Church. She and Gaylord farmed west of Randall from 1945 until moving to Story City in 2000, and then to Bickford Cottage in 2005.
She is survived by her husband, Gaylord, of Ames; three sons, James Hauge, of Ankeny, Mark (Kathleen Deal), of Stanhope, and Keith (Janet), of Jewell; and two brothers, Arden (Judy) Quam, of Ames, and Delbert (Darlene) Quam, of Story City.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, the Rev. Ernest Quam and Luther Quam.
Memorials may be made to Bickford Cottage.
