F. Menzel Dies

NEVADA - Frank H. Menzel, 82, 628 14th St. Pl., a native of McCallsburg, died Tuesday afternoon at the Story County Hospital here. He had been a hospital patient for the past five months and was in failing health for two years.

He was born in McCallsburg on Aug. 11, 1887, a son of Charles and Anna Menzel. On July 15, 1911, he was married to Louise Rierson and the couple lived on a farm in Milford Township for more than 50 years until they moved to Nevada.

Mr. Menzel was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church and was a school board member of the Milford School Board.

Survivors include his wife, Louise; one daughter, Mrs. Duncan Irish of Nevada; three grandchildren; one great grandson; two brothers, Earl Menzel of Zearing and Lester Menzel of McCallsburg; and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Marsh and Mrs. Bertha Stevenson, both of Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and an infant daughter.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Memorial Lutheran Church. The Rev. Harry Myklebust will officiate. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery. Friends may call at the Ryan Funeral Home until noon Friday.
