Louise G. Menzel

Louis Gertrude Menzel, 99, of Nevada died June 1, 1990, at Story County Hospital Long Term Care of a stroke.

She was born June 13, 1890, in Story County to Lewis and Emma Rierson. She married Frank H. Menzel June 15, 1911, at her parent's home in Milford Township. She farmed, taught at Milford Twp. School and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church, Church Circle, Milford Social Club, Nevada Garden Club, and a past Milford PTA president.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters, two sisters, and two brothers.

Survivors include three grandchildren, Becky I. Jacobson and Bonny I. McVey, both of Nevada, and Bob Irish of Minneapolis, Minn.; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held June 4 at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada. Services were June 5 at Nevada Memorial Lutheran Church with Pastor Forrest Chaffee officiating with burial in Nevada Cemetery.
