Ruth H. Duea
Ruth Duea, 87, of Story City, died of congestive heart failure on Saturday, April 3, 1999, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services were held Thursday, April 8, at 11:00 a.m. at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland with Rev. Conrad Rolland officiating. Burial was in the Roland Cememtery.
Ruth H. Duea was born Dec. 13, 1911, south of Roland, Iowa, to Peder and Maren (Borwick) Durby. She grew up south of Roland residing there until her marriage to Victor S. Duea on Nov. 29, 1930. They lived on a farm northeast of Nevada, moving to Roland in 1972, where she resided until moving to Bethany Manor in Story City. She was a homemaker. Victor died on Nov. 27, 1991.
Surviviors include two daughters, Mary Egemo of Lady Lake, Florida and Corrine Thomas of Columbia, South Carolina; two sons, Sanford Duea of rural Nevada, and David Duea of San Diego, California; two sisters, Berniece Caltvedt of Story City and Palma Beaty of Marshalltown, Iowa; 16 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, David Peter Duea; two granddaughters, Marilee Maren Egemo and Jacqueline Marie Slagle; seven brothers and four sisters.
