Myrtle R. Sampson
Myrtle Sampson, 86, died of complications from Alzheimer's on Monday, Dec. 28, 1998 at Bethany Manor Nursing Home in Story City were she had resided since May 19, 1995. Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 2 at 1:30p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland with Rev. Steve Schwartz officiating. Burial was in Roland Cemetery.
Myrtle R. Sampson was born May 4, 1912 near Nevada to Lewis and Bertha (Hall) Rasmusson. On Jan. 28, 1931, she married Clarence Sampson near Nevada. They farmed near McCallsburg until moving to Nevada in 1958 and then moving in 1991 to Story City. She served as a cook in Nevada School district for many years. Myrtle was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Roland.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence Sampson of Story City; one son, Larry Sampson of Plano, Texas; on daughter, Mary Duea of San Diego, California; one brother, Jeff Rasmusson of Nevada; one sister, Burdella Bennett of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Dale; six sisters, Lillian Prescott, Grace Jacobson, Erma Halvorson, Frances Vasey and two sisters who died in infancy; and two brothers, Donald and Raymond Rasmusson.---from Story City Herald after Jan. 2, 1998
