THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, April 7, 2009.

Dorothy Kay Blair, 70, of Ames, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Israel Family Hospice House. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, at First United Methodist Church in Ames, with Chaplain Henrietta Klarenbeek and Pastor Deanna Pullen co-officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Dorothy Blair was born Oct. 25, 1938, in Ames, to Orville and Leona (Ball) McKinley. She graduated from Gilbert High School in 1956. She married Jack Blair July 5, 1957.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ames. She retired from Iowa State University, after 25 years of employment. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by two daughters, Marla (John) Merrick and their children, Kayla and Matt, all of Johnston, and Sheryl Trotter, of Ames, and her daughters, Jennifer, of Ankeny, and Alyson, of Gilbert; one son, Dennis (Deanne) Blair and their sons, Ryan and Kyle, all of Gilbert; one brother, William McKinley, of Oakland; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, and one brother.

Stevens Memorial Chapel of Ames is assisting her family.
