THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, April 7, 2009.

Evelyn M. Olson, 91, longtime resident of Ames, died Sunday April 5, 2009, at Abbington on Grand in Ames. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 9, at Adams Funeral Home in Ames, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Evelyn was born Oct. 12, 1917, in Kelley, to Benjamin and Irene (Sutter) Brendeland. She married George Olson Nov. 26, 1939, in Ames. She was employed by Iowa State University from 1966 to 1979, when she retired. She was a member of United Church of Christ-Congregational, former member of Women of the Moose and Mary Greeley Auxiliary.

She is survived by her grandson, Brian (Kim) Olson, and two great-granddaughters, Erica and Emily, all of Fairfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George on Oct. 15, 1992; one son, Ronald in 2004; and two sisters, Lucille Hanlin and Esther Coffman.

Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with the arrangements.
