THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, September 23, 2008.

Mildred Lange, 83, of Lake City and formerly of Ames, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City.

A gathering of friends and family will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way, in Ames. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at First United Methodist Church in Ames, with burial in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Mildred was born Feb. 17, 1925, in Humeston, the daughter of Leo and Carrie (Feight) Moser. The family moved to the Gilbert area and later to Fernald, where she graduated from Fernald High School in 1942. She married Fred Lange Feb. 10, 1945, in Nevada. He preceded her in death in February 2004. She was a working farmwife and also worked with Dairy Herd Improvement Association as a milk tester. She and Fred farmed on East Lincoln Way for more than 50 years.

The two of them enjoyed cards, dancing, women's and men's Cyclone basketball, and attending the Story County Fair and Iowa State Fair. She enjoyed family and being a grandma.

She is survived by one daughter and son in-law, Diane and Larry Schulte, of Odebolt; her son Dennis' lifetime friend, Shell Flynn, of Ames; three grandchildren, Kristin (Sherwin) Kuch, of Keystone, Tiffany (Darin) Mohr, of Odebolt, and Klint Schulte and his fiancé, Ashley Woodke, of Odebolt; two great-grandsons, Wyatt and Garrett Kuch, of Keystone; three sisters, Marjorie (Maynard) Johnson, of Marshalltown, Helen (Loy) Black, of Nevada, and Doris (Dean) Olson, of Ames; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Carrie Moser; her husband, Fred Lange; one son, Dennis Lange in October 2007; and one brother, Merle Moser.

Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family with arrangements.
