MRS. W. D. ARMSTRONG

Mrs. Anna Armstrong, 85, died at her home at Collins Sunday, April 19, at 8:10 p.m.

She was born at Thompsontown, Penn., May 13, 1851, one of the eight children of Eli and Hannah Cargill. She is the last of the children.

She came with the family to Kirkwood, Ill., when a child of five years, and it was there that she was married to Dr. W. D. Armstrong in 1869. The family home was at Monmouth, Ill., during the most of her married life, but she came to Collins and established her home after the younger son J. Ralphy Armstrong came here and took charge of the Collins Gazette.

Burial was at Kirkwood, Wednesday.

Nine children were born to Dr. and Mrs. Armstrong, one daughter, Edith, died at the age of 9 years and a son Dr. Clarence D. Armstrong died in 1904. The surviving children are Alfred C. of Kirkwood; Mrs. Mary L. Abbey of Chicago; Mrs. Mabel Bowers of Springdale, Ark.;. William E. of Mackey, Idaho; Mrs. Hazel Boyce of Hampton; Mrs. C. W. Lantz of Cedar Falls, and J. Ralph of Collins. She also leaves six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

After she came to Collins to establish her home a niece Miss Alice Cargill had made her home with and assisted in the care of the aged woman.
