George R. Roberts, 75, of R.R. 2, Ames, died at Mary Greeley Hospital Monday morning about 8 a.m. after a week-long illness.
Roberts was a member of the Pleasant Grove Church. He married Stella Moklebust on November 16, 1931.
Roberts was born in Morrison, Illinois on November 2, 1902 to John and Pina Roberts. He came to the McCallsburg area in 1925 and to the Milford Twonship area in 1938. He was a farmer most of his life but also worked at the National Animal Desease Lab for 13 years before he retired in 1975.
Roberts is survived by his wife and four sons: Larry of Hartford, Conn., Richard of Ames, and Gene and James of R.R. 2, Ames, Also survivng is one daughter, Georgia Pierson of Story City, He also has one survivng brother, John of St. Anthony and one sister, Grance Campbell of Freeport, Illinois. Other survivors include: a half-sister, Viola Yenney of Mt. Carroll, Illinois; 15 grandchildren; and one great grandson.
Roberts was preceded in death by one brother, one sister, three half-brothers and one half-sister.---from the Nevada Journal June 20. 1978
