Mrs. Geo. R. Sowers Funeral Was Tuesday
Mrs. George R. Sowers, 76, died Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Story City Memorial hospital after a lingering illness. She entered the hospital Friday.
Mrs. Sowers was a graduate of Iowa State college. Her husband preceded her in death.
She came to Ames from Centropolis, Kansas, 52 years ago and attended Iowa State. She taught school in Milford township (Pleasant Grove) at one times.
She had been active many years in welfare work in Story county.
Funeral services were Tuesday at 2 o'clock at Grace EUB church, with the Rev. W. D. Winter, and the Rev. Raymond Shipman, Ames, officiating. Burial was in Roland cemetery.
Survivors are a son Claire, Williamsburg, Kans., and two daughters, Mrs. Jeanette Pikert, State College, Pa., and Mr. Vere Bielefeldt, Roland; nine grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Lindsey and six brothers: Albert, Orville, Walter, Ben, Simon, and Ray Nitcher; all of Pomona, Kansas.---from the Story City Herald
