Marie Frances Sande, 87, of Nevada, died Tuesday, April 15, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 18, at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Burial will be in Story Memorial Cemetery in Ames.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m., with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 17, at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.
Marie Frances Sande was born Dec. 21, 1920, in Ames, the daughter of "BA" and Ella (Miller) Dodds. She graduated from Gilbert High School in 1938 and attended Iowa State College. She married Art Sande Dec. 10, 1941, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Art preceded her in death May 10, 1980. She worked as a secretary for Iowa Department of Transportation, Sunstrand and the Ascension Lutheran Church. She was voted Iowa Secretary of the Year in 1974. She was a Master Gardener, and a member of the Iowa Genealogy Society, Ascension Lutheran Church and D.A.R. She loved her family and was known for her deep faith. She enjoyed quilting and was a Bible study member at the Regency in Nevada.
She is survived by two daughters, Judy (Carl) Allen, of Nevada, and Ann (Ron) Reed, of Boone; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; two brothers, Jim (Pat) Dodds and Bill (Fran) Dodds, all of Ames; and one sister, Norma (Arnold) Lande, of Webster City.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and one granddaughter, Tracy.
Memorials may be directed to Ascension Lutheran Church Building Fund, Hospice and Nevada First Responders.
Bacon Funeral Homes and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
