THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, February 9, 2008.

Elsie Marie Taylor Sloniger, 80, a longtime rural Cambridge resident, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, at her home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m., with the family present from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 10, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care in Ames. An Eastern Star Memorial Service will follow the visitation at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Elsie Marie was born Sept. 4, 1927, in Ames, the daughter of James N. and Elsie Ann (Davis) Taylor. She graduated from Ames High School. She married V. Allen Sloniger Aug. 22, 1948, in Ames. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Nevada, and was a 50-year member of Order of The Eastern Star Ankeny-New Hope Chapter 513 of Ankeny. She loved her family, friends, flowers, and enjoyed baking cookies.

She is survived by her husband, V. Allen Sloniger, of Cambridge; one daughter, Mary Jo (Philip E.) Fitzgerald, of Muscatine; three sons, Charles A. (Joyce) Sloniger, of Cambridge, Max A. (Judy) Sloniger, of Livonia, Mo., and Mark A. (Kris) Sloniger, of Nevada; grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric) Peterson, Daniel (Brianne) Fitzgerald, Kathleen (Todd) Fitzgerald, Gregg (Maggie) Sloniger, Melissa Sloniger, Sarah Sloniger, Rebecca (Dan) Graff, Roxanne (Jeff) Pieters, and Max A. Sloniger II; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Raymond Taylor, Kenneth Taylor and Ronald Taylor; and two grandsons, Matthew Karl Sloniger and James Eric Fitzgerald.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.

Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family with arrangements.
