THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, February 9, 2008.

Dean Darrell Porath, 75, passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, in Sun City West, Ariz. A memorial service has already been held.

Dean Darrell Porath was born March 16, 1932. He married Lois Carlson Feb. 21, 1954. They lived most of their lives in Ames, where he devoted his career to Story Construction Company for 35 years.

He was a loyal and dedicated man. He loved to create and even demonstrated this in his remaining years despite his health challenges.

He and his wife raised three children, Toni Ovalle, of San Antonio, Texas, Curtis Porath, of Cle Elum, Wash., and Jolene Goodman, of Johnston. He is also survived by one sister, Ramona Main, of Angels Camp, Calif.; five grandchildren, Travis Sampson, Jessica Sampson, Sara Goodman, Samantha Goodman and Abby Goodman; and six great-grandchildren, Alexis Andrews, Cade Sampson, Reid Sampson, Clark Sampson, Camrie Sampson and Taranique Sampson.
