Richard M. Taylor, 83, of Roland, died Dec. 18, 2006, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. Interment was in Indian Mound Cemetery. Military honors were presented by the 133rd Air National Guard Ceremonial Unit. A service sharing special memories was held at Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20 following the visitation.

Richard is survived by his wife, Ruth; his children, Connie (Bill) Ash, Carol Greenhow, Dan Taylor, all of Seattle, Washington; David Taylor of Missouri; Carmen Marcell of Seattle, Washington; step-children, Alan (Lisa) Wittmus and Jurey (Connie) Wittmus, all of Fort Dodge; Allison Donaldson of Story City; Merri Powell of Hardy; numerous grandchildren, step-grand
children, great-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren and his siblings, Maxine Helvick, Dorothy (Dwayne) Jensen, Beverly Porter, Veronica (Jerry) Vinchattle, Fred Taylor and Larry (Delores) Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Gene.

Richard M. Taylor, the son of Oscar and Jesse (Baillie) Taylor, was born Aug. 8, 1923, in Fort Dodge. He graduated from Fort Dodge High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WW II, from 1942-1945. Richard was employed as Business Representative with the International Molders & Allied Workers Union in Seattle, Wash., for 33 years. On Apr. 11, 1990, Richard was united in marriage to Ruth Beitz in Fort Dodge.

Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting and his quarter horses. He loved being active with his grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.
