Ruth Louise Tipton, 75 of Nevada died on Saturday, August 18 at Rolling Green Village. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 21 at the First United Methodist Church in Nevada with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Burial was held in the Hubbard Cemetery following the luncheon.

Ruth was born January 20, 1932 in the rural Grant Township near Hubbard, Iowa to William H. and Lydia Louise Marie (Knoner) Brandt. She went to rural school in Hardin County and graduated from Zearing High School in the class of 1947.

Ruth completed nursing school at Broadlawn Hospital in Des Moines in 1952 and began working at Story County Hospital in September of 1952 as a surgical nurse.

On August 23, 1953, Ruth married William Leonard Tipton, a Nevada pharmacist. Their son Paul Leonard Tipton was born on April 15, 1958. After her son was born, Ruth resigned from full time work at the hospital to maintain her home and raise her son Paul. She continued to work part time at Dr. Mordaunt's medical office in the early years, and later at Chet Ryan Mortuary.

Ruth was active in the community where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church, church circle and the Nevada Order of the Eastern Star, where she was Worthy Matron in 1962.

Ruth is survived by her husband Bill, her son Paul (Sande), her two grandchildren Bradlee and Michelle Tipton, all of OFallon, MO, her brother Leon Brandt of Ames and his children Stephen, Jeff, Lyle and Andrea, and other family and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Orpha Brandt.

Visitation was held on Monday, August 20 with the family present at Chet Ryan Mortuary and Cremation Services in Nevada.

Memorials may be given in Ruth's name to the First United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.

Chet Ryan Mortuary and Cremation Services was entrusted with Ruth and her family.
