Mike Sevde, 61, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services are pending with Adams Funeral Home.

Michael Sevde, 61, of Ames, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. An informal gathering of family and friends will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Adams Funeral Home. A private family graveside service will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Michael Sevde was born June 30, 1946, in Des Moines, to Orine "Duke" and Lillie (Rowe) Sevde. He graduated from Ames High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a security guard at Iowa State University for roughly 25 years. He enjoyed fishing and painting.

He is survived by his father, Duke Sevde, of Ames; one brother, Clem (Mickie) Sevde, of Norwalk; and two nieces, Andrea Bartman and Emily Horrell.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association (Mid-Iowa Chapter), 700 E. University Ave., Des Moines, IA 50316.

Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
