THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, April 26, 2007.

July 7, 1934-April 19, 2007

Carole Ann (Alsager) Boren, 72, of Salem, Ore., went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Thursday, April 19, peacefully in her home. Her love for Jesus was evident in every aspect of her daily life. She often stated "It's all about him (Jesus), and not about me." Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 28, at Salem Alliance Church.

Carole Ann Boren was born July 7, 1934, to Lewis and Olga Alsager, of Jewell. She grew up in eastern Iowa, graduating from high school in Story City in 1952. She married Dalton F. Boren in 1954 in Marion. They raised their family in beautiful, picturesque Mount Vernon. She worked for Mount Vernon Steel and Wire Co., and retired from custodial work at Cornell College. Upon retirement in 1991, she and Dalton moved to Salem, Ore.

Her first love was Jesus Christ. He was her everything. She loved to pray for others. Her first concern always was for others and never about herself. She was actively involved in ministry at Salem Alliance Church. She loved spending time on the Oregon coast. She adored her family and was always happiest when she was surrounded by them.

She is survived by her children, Terry D. (Carol) Boren, of Mount Vernon, Sharon E. Boren, of Salem, Ore., and Gary L. (Tammie) Boren, of Springville; grandchildren, Derek M. (Lori) Boren, Nicholas L. Boren and Sean R. Boren, all of Mount Vernon, and Kendra J. Boren, of Salem, Ore. Also surviving are three sisters, Delores Erickson, of Cedar Falls, Alice Meyers, of Fort Meyers, Fla., and Shirley Teggatz, of Homestead. She also is survived by many other extended family members and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Dalton F.; one sister, Edith Davi; and two brothers, Lloyd and Jennings Alsager.

A special thank you to Mid Willamette Valley Hospice for its supportive services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in c/o of the Boren Family, 2833 Florence Ave. NE, Salem, OR 97301. Donations will then be sent to two designated ministries per her wishes.

Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service of Salem, Ore., is in charge of arrangements.
