Walter A. Gaedke, 96, of Eldora and formerly of Colo, died Tuesday, April 24, at Eldora Nursing and Rehab Center, where he had been a resident for the past five years. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 27, at Trinity Lutheran Church in State Center. Burial will be in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Walter Gaedke was born March 11, 1911, in Parkers Prairie, Minn., the son of Fredrick W. and Augusta Kuehn Gaedke. He married Hermina Anna Martha Fritz Nov. 2, 1933, in Leaf Valley, Minn. Hermina preceded him in death June 19, 2002. He had worked on the railroad for 10 years, farmed for several years near Algona and worked for the city of Alexandria, Minn., for more than 20 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in State Center.

He is survived by one son, Marcel (Margaret) Gaedke, of Colo; one daughter, Bobette Matzen, of Ames; one daughter-in-law, Lugene Gaedke, of Radcliffe; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, James; three brothers; and eight sisters.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in State Center.
