Loretta Lavon Coghlan, 49, of Ames, died Sunday, Feb. 18, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services were today at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset. Burial was in Winterset Cemetery.

Loretta Lavon Coghlan was born Jan. 28, 1958, in Iowa City, to Edgar R. and Emily E. (Benge) Coghlan. She grew up in Winterset and was a graduate of Winterset High School. She moved away in the 1970s and had lived in Ames for the past 20 years. She had been a homemaker, cook and a cashier during her life. Her favorite pastime was being with her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, MacKenzie (Andrew Foster) Schweiger and Katherine Coghlan, both of Ames; two sisters, Lana Baird and Rita Volz, both of Ames; and three grandchildren, Dravyn, Isabelle and Dannyelle.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Linda Still.

Memorials will be directed to her family.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel and Funeral Services in Winterset.
