Pauline Rentschler, 60, of Boone, died Sunday, Feb. 18, at Mary Greeley Medical Center. A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 23, at Church of the Sacred Heart in Boone with the Rev. Steve Brodersen officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Boone.
Pauline Rentschler was born Sept. 6, 1946, in Ames, the daughter of John and Ruth (Tesdall) Stark. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1964. She married Steve Rentschler June 2, 1979, in Boone. Since May 1978, she had been employed by the Iowa State University Department of Public Safety. She presently was dispatch supervisor for the Iowa State University Department of Public Safety Police Division.
She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Nevada and the Association of Public-Safety Communication Officials (APCO). Her hobbies included shopping, collecting Boyd's Bears, cooking and watching game shows. She also enjoyed antiques, her family and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Steve; one son, Steven Ray and wife, Lisa; one daughter, Michele Ray and her fiancé, Kevin Porter; her mother, Ruth Stark, all of Boone; four grandchildren, Megan Payne, Miranda Richmann, Britney Hefler and Brandon Hefler; one son-in-law, Tony Hefler (father of Britney and Brandon), of Boone; two brothers, Paul Stark and Terry Stark and wife, Anne, all of Nevada.
She was preceded in death by her father, John P. Stark.
Friends may call from noon until 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall streets in Boone, where a vigil service will be at 7 p.m. and the family will be present from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Visitation will continue from 8 until 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral chapel.
Memorials may be given to the family to be used at its discretion.
