THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, February 8, 2007.

L. Lucille Berrett, 91, of Ames, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kelley, with the Rev. Bernard Daiker and Chaplain Sandy Anenson officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Lutheran Church Cemetery.

L. Lucille Berrett was born Feb. 20, 1915, in Ames, to Benjamin Joseph and Mary Claire (Hakes) Mather. She was a graduate of Ames High School and attended Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines. She married John Berrett Dec. 19, 1936, in Ames. She was a key punch operator at Rueben H. Donnelly for 24 years, retiring in 1980.

She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, playing cards (especially winning at cards), needlepoint and traveling.

She is survived by her special friend, Bernard Posegate, of Ames; six children, Norm (Marcia) Berrett, of Kelley, Carol (Greg) Cook, of Lenexa, Kan., Bob (Dianne) Berrett, of Wichita Falls, Texas, Wayne (Millie) Berrett, of Kelley, Ron (Becky) Berrett, of Huxley, and Don (Marolynn) Berrett, of Boone; one brother, Joseph Merrill (Ellen) Mather, of Lisbon, N.D.; one stepsister, Huberta Williams, of Fort Dodge; 15 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, in 1971; and four brothers.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, at Adams Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to Bethany Lutheran Church, Bethany Manor or to a charity of the donor's choice.
