Henrietta Elizabeth Huhn, of Nevada, died Saturday February 3, 2007 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames at the age of 97. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
Henrietta was born on February 15, 1909 in Nevada, Iowa to William and Laura (Lough) Pincombe. She lived in Nevada her entire life and graduated from Nevada High School in 1927. On April 20, 1929, Henrietta married Kenneth W. Huhn in Marshalltown, Iowa. To this union a daughter Sue Ann Huhn Atkinson was born. Henrietta worked along side her husband on a farm in the Shipley community. They later owned the Goldcrest Dairy in Nevada. Henrietta was well known in the Story County farming community as Executive Director of the Story County ASCS office where she worked for over 20 years. She had several honors bestowed upon her during her tenure with ASCS. Henrietta was chosen as one of the five top employees out of 15,000 in the United States. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nevada, Chapter AM P.E.O., Soroptimist International and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
She is survived by her daughter Sue Ann (Bill) Atkinson of Nevada; grandchildren Ann Elizabeth Atkinson (Daly) Greiman, James William (Paula) Atkinson, Mary Jane Atkinson (Jerry) Jones, and Danny Craig Atkinson; great grandchildren, Dax and Dustin Atkinson, Laura Phillips, Jayme Harvey, Jennifer Greiman, Amy and Stacie Atkinson; and one great-great granddaughter, Kodi Henrietta Phillips.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Lois Ashby on July 10, 2006.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Nevada.
