Arthur Drake, 88, of Slater, died Thursday, Dec. 21, in Des Moines. Services are pending with Soderstrum Riis Funeral Home in Slater.

THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, December 22, 2006.

Arthur W. Drake, 88, of Slater, went home to his Lord and Savior Thursday, Dec. 21. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 23, at Slater Baptist Church in Slater.

Art placed his trust in Jesus Christ in 1955. He farmed 50 years and was a charter member of Slater Baptist Church, where he served 22 years as deacon and 18 years as financial secretary. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include Bett, his wife of 65 years; two daughters, Kathy Quick, of Sheldahl, and Darla Goldberg, of Slater; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Arthur Alan; and one brother, Richard.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home in Slater.

Memorials may be given to his church.
