Margaret Eileen (Christianson) George, 85, of Madrid, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, at the Madrid Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, at Garden Prairie United Church of Christ with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Margaret Eileen (Christianson) George was born Oct. 19, 1921, in Lake Wilson, Minn., the daughter of Harold and Clara (Knudson) Christianson. She graduated from Gilbert High School in 1940 and from Des Moines Area Community College in 1971 as a practical nurse. She worked at Boone County Hospital for 15 years as a licensed practical nurse, and she was also a homemaker. She married Ferris George Oct. 16, 1940, in Ankeny. She was a member of Garden Prairie United Church of Christ and had been a Boone County 4-H leader.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara (Dan) Danilson, of Martinsburg, Pa.; one son, David (Nancy) George, of Madrid; five grandchildren, Dennise, Debra, Douglas, Dennis and Daniel; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Glendora Danielsen, of Mesa, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ferris; her parents; and one brother, Ernest Christianson.

A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Madrid.

Memorial contributions may be made to Garden Prairie United Church of Christ.
