Oct. 18, 1930-Nov. 26, 2006Betty Jane Fosberg, 76, of Ames and formerly of Alden, died Sunday, Nov. 26, at Israel Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Ames with burial in Ames Municipal Cemetery. A luncheon will be at the Moose Lodge following interment.
Betty Jane Fosberg was born Oct. 18, 1930, at Webster City, the daughter of Charles Franklin and Bessie Emiline (Butrum) McGuire. She received her education in Webster City and graduated from Webster City High School. She married John Cordell Fosberg Aug. 14, 1949, at the Methodist Church in Webster City. She retired from the Ames Daily Tribune where she was a bookkeeper.
She was a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church, Women of the Moose, American Legion Auxiliary and past member of College of Regents, all in Ames. She always will be remembered for her love of family and friends. She enjoyed watching football and basketball, playing cards, Bingo and going out for coffee or lunch with family and friends.
She is survived by one son, Douglas John Fosberg and wife, Delores, of Jacksonville, N.C.; one daughter, Janet Elaine (Houser) Greve, of Marshalltown; three grandchildren, Rebecca Fosberg Thornton, of Raleigh, N.C., Michael Lee Houser, of Nevada, and Christopher Houser, of Nevada; two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Amber Thornton, of Raleigh, N.C.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers; four sisters; one nephew; and one niece.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, at the Surls Funeral Home in Alden.
