May 4, 1943-Nov. 26, 2006Sheryl Linda Miller, 63, of Huxley, died of natural causes Sunday, Nov. 26. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames, and at 2 p.m. at West Friesland Presbyterian Church in Ackley.
Sheryl Linda Miller was born May 4, 1943, at Allen Hospital in Waterloo to John L. (Jack) and Gertrude (Harken) Meyer. She began her education at a country school north of Buck Grove and continued through Aplington High School.
She married Gary D. Miller Nov. 12, 1965, at West Friesland Presbyterian Church of rural Ackley. They made their first home in Ogden, Utah, near Hill Air Force Base. Later residences included Cedar Rapids, Ames and Huxley. She operated a day care and also baked pies for Center Grove Orchard. Most importantly, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was a member of Garden Prairie UCC, where she was organist as well as at local funeral chapels. She was the musician at Ames Moose Lodge, where she volunteered for many activities. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, taking care of her flowers, singing and playing the organ. Time spent with her family also was special to her.
She is survived by her husband, Gary; one son, Gene (Stacey) Miller, of Clear Lake; one daughter, Shanon (Jeremy) McKinley, of Huxley; one grandson, Dylan McKinley; one brother, Dennis (Joyce) Meyer, of Bristow; one sister, Wanda (Carl) Benning, of Waverly; and one aunt, Martha (Harken) Pruisner, of Aplington.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.
