Elmer J Coffin, 56 years old, a long time resident of Ames, died of inflammation of the brain Tuesday afternoon at his home, 211 East Lincoln Way. He had been ill for about three months. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Thursday afternoon at the Adams chapel, and will be conducted by the Rev. R. M. Shipmen of the First Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Ames Cemetery. Mr. Coffin was born in Richmond, Indiana and came to Des Moines while a young man. About 30 years ago he came to Ames, where he worked in the Tilden Store until 1910. From then until 1925 he worked in the Fair Store. In 1925 he returned to the Tilden Store, where he was employed at the time of his death. Mr Coffin is survived by his wife, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Coffin of Des Moines, and a sister, Miss Martha Coffin of Des Moines. A brother, George Coffin, died in Des Moines about 15 years ago.
