Richard Morck
Richard "Dick" Eugene Morck, age 84, formerly of Gilbert, Nevada and currently of North English died following a long illness on Friday, September 29, 2006 at his home in North English A Celebration Of Life Service was held Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at the North English Christian Church with Dr. Blair Yager officiating. Graveside services with military rites were on Tuesday at 12:30 PM in Rest Haven Cemetery in West Des Moines, IA. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Compassion.

Richard Eugene Monk was born on September 21, 1922 in Gilbert, IA, the son of Sophus H. and Clara Petersen Morck. He served in the U.S. Navy on a minesweeper during WWII. On February 14, 1946, Dick was united in marriage to Edith Louise Brooks in Star City, Ark. They lived most of their married life in Story County until moving to North English in 2001. Dick worked nearly 27 years as a painter and silk screen fabricator for the Iowa Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and had attended the North English Christian Church. Dick was also a member of the Ames VFW. He was a huge Iowa Hawkeye sports fan, loved fishing and bird watching. He died at his home in North English, on Friday, September 29, 2006 after a long illness. He lived 84 years, and 8 days.
He is survived by his wife Edith of North English, IA; a son Robert Morck (Kim) of Aplington, IA; 6 daughters: Kathleen South (Daniel) of Bremerton, WA; (twins) Carolyn Johnson (James) and Caren Wolfe ( Darrell) both of Des Moines, IA; Rose Fink (Doug) of Wheaton, IL; Mary Yeager (Blair) of Chesapeake, VA; and Evelyn Kotouc (Jimmie) of North English, IA; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a brother Sophus Jr. Morck of Boone, IA. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Galen Morck and a sister Betty Freese.
