Elsie A. Ellingson, 87, of Story City, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial will be in Story City Cemetery.

Elsie A. Ellingson was born Sept. 16, 1919, in Story City, to Olaf and Nora (Amlund) Townswick. She graduated from Story City High School in May 1937. She married Kenneth (Bud) Handeland in 1937 in Fort Dodge. She married Lowell Ellingson April 25, 1985, in McCallsburg. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church. Elsie loved to cook, bake, craft and quilt.

She is survived by one sister, Margaret (Emmet) Peter, of Story City; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Townswick, of Vacaville, Calif., and Norma Gandrup, of Ames; several nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; one sister; and three brothers.

Visitation with the family present will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. today at Fredregill Funeral in Zearing.
