May 1, 1944-Sept. 24, 2006
David Kokemiller, 62, of Luther, died Sunday, Sept. 24, suddenly after a brief illness. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Madrid. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Sheffield Cemetery and a reception afterward at American Legion in Story City.

David was born May 1, 1944, in Story City, and graduated from Story City High School and attended a plumbing trade school. He married Linda (Rahto) Oct. 2, 1965, and they lived in Luther since 1971. He was a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union No. 33 and worked as a commercial plumber in the Des Moines area. He retired in 2004 and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his dog, Chelsey.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda Kokemiller; one son, Donovan and daughter-in-law Gwen Stevens, of Broken Arrow, Okla.; two daughters, Ronda and son-in-law Matt Willson, of Fort Myers, Fla., and Jana and son-in-law Bret Berka, of Ames; grandchildren, Dayne and Reese Stevens, and Sylvia and Danny Berka; one brother, Fred and his wife Shirley Kokemiller, of Madrid; two sisters, Gretchen and her husband Wayne Alvestad, of Des Moines, and Ruth Ann Gertsen, of Story City; and many nieces and nephews.

Westover Funeral Home in Des Moines is in charge of arrangements.
