Arthur M. Kuhn, 87, of Ames, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. His body has been willed to the Mayo Clinic. A service of remembrance will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames with Pastor Randy Gehring officiating. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 37.

Art was born Dec. 30, 1918, in Red Wing, Minn., to Arthur M. and Aurora (Lundquist) Kuhn. He was a graduate of Red Wing High School and the Minnesota School of Business. He served as a PFC in the Army during World War II. He was awarded a Purple Heart for being wounded in the Battle of the Bulge.

He worked in the office of Red Wing Pottery for 21 years in various positions. In 1961, he started traveling as an independent manufacturing representative and continued until he retired in August 2001.

He married Judith Lyon July 4, 1991. He was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church, Elks Lodge 1626, American Legion Post 37 and United Commercial Travelers.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Kuhn, of Ames; three sons, Duane (Julie) Kuhn, of Hillsboro, Ore., David Kuhn, of Lakewood, Colo., and Dean (Sue) Kuhn, of Pequot Lakes, Minn.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul (Jane Lee) Kuhn, of Baxter, Minn., and Robert (Audrey) Kuhn, of Sun City, Ariz.; two sisters, Mildred Berg, of Ellsworth, Wis., and Joan Olson, of Hendersonville, N.C.; one stepdaughter, Melissa (Rodney) Miller, of Keller, Texas; and one stepson, Tim (Jenny) Lyon, of Northfield, Minn.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Ames Boys and Girls Club or Youth and Shelter Services.
