THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, September 20, 2006.

Ronald William Wardle
Ronald William Wardle, 69, of Logan, Utah, and Ames, died Monday, Sept. 18, after a difficult illness. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at the Logan Fifth Ward Chapel. He will be interred beside his father and sister, Carol, in Rockland, Idaho.

Ronald is remembered by his family and many friends for his gentle spirit and ability to accept misfortune without bitterness. He was a student of scripture, of philosophy and of mathematics and physics, specifically improved yacht hull design hydrodynamic models.

Another of his unique interests was Middle English literature, which he read in the gothic script.

Dearest among the many friends he cherished and who cherished him were his classmates in the Ames High class of 1955, who provided particular love and encouragement throughout his life. Nieces, nephews and children in his Sunday school classes were captivated by his dramatic poem recitations.

He was even more loyal to Ames than his parents and brothers and sister, and lived there 38 years before moving to Logan for the peace of mind of his mother and father. In Logan, he was a great assistance to his parents in their advancing years. He served in the Logan Temple for many years.

He is survived by his mother, Delsa Taysom Wardle of Logan; one sister, Ilene Lyons, of Sunrise, Fla.; and four brothers, Leon, of Wayland, Mass., Terry, of Pleasant Grove, Michael, of Las Vegas, and Robert, of Logan.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Carol, and his father, Norval Junius Wardle.

Ronald and his family are particularly grateful to many members of the staff of Logan House and Access Hospice who were so kind and encouraging with him.

Friends and family who would prefer may send a donation to the Norval Junius Wardle Scholarship in care of Iowa State University Foundation, attn. Monica Porter, 2505 Elwood Drive, Ames, IA, 50010.
