THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, September 1, 2006.

John Irving Jacobson, 76, of McCallsburg, died Thursday, Aug. 31, at his home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg. Burial will be in Warren Township Cemetery in McCallsburg.

John Jacobson was born Nov. 29, 1929, in Hardin County, the son of Oscar and Inga (Sampson) Jacobson. He graduated from McCallsburg High School in 1947. On April 15, 1955, he married Lucille Wismer at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

John was a farmer and school bus driver for the Colo-Nesco school district. He served in the Air Force. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, the Samuel-Reed American Legion Post No. 334 of McCallsburg and the McCallsburg Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille, of McCallsburg; two sons, Jerry Jacobson, of Visalia, Calif., and Kevin (Kimberly) Jacobson, of Story City; one daughter, Brenda (Arthur) Easley, of Omaha, Neb.; grandchildren, Alissa, Tyler, Shane, Travis and Aaron; and one sister, Ione (Luther) Holland, of McCallsburg.

His parents and two brothers preceded him in death.
Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 4, at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa.

Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing is in charge of the arrangements.
