THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, January 11, 2006.

Joyce Ann Ferguson, 64, of Boone, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Kavanagh House on 56th Street in Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home, Fifth and Story streets in Boone, with the Rev. Jack L. Becker officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, west of Boone.

Joyce was born on June 24, 1941, in St. James, Mo., the daughter of Everett Raymond and Betty Jane (Littrell) Holt. She attended school in Missouri and in Ames. She also took a semester at DMACC in Boone.

She married Jack Martin Ferguson June 24, 1955, in Ames. She lived in Boone County most all her life. She was a property manager of the Elderly in Polk City, Elkhart, Huxley and State Center for the National Management Company of Knoxville and later of Grimes. She retired due to illness in 1993. She was a member of the Eternal Life Mission Church of Luther. She sang and played base in the Boone County Bluegrass Band for 14 years.

She is survived by her son, Lance Ferguson and his partner Greg Johnson of Marshalltown; her two grandchildren, Brian Ferguson of Leadville, Colo., and Kevin Ferguson of Boone; two great-grandchildren, Elijah and Asa Ferguson of Colo.; two brothers, William Holt of San Bernardino, Calif., and Walter Holt of New Albany, Miss; three sisters, Betty Shellac of Cambridge, Geraldine Korhs of New Virginia and Kathline Cornett and her husband, Richard, of South Sioux City, Neb.; her lifelong friend, Jack Ferguson and his wife, Darlene, of Boone.
She is preceded in death by her two infant children, Kathrine and David, and her son, Mark; her parents; and two sisters, Lucille and Dorothy.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home, Fifth and Story streets of Boone with the family present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue from 8 a.m. to time of service Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials contributions may be made to Eternal Life Mission Church of Luther.
