Charlotte Lyn (Kingsbury) Spitzli died Friday, Jan. 6, of cancer at her home in Petoskey, Mich.

She was born April 12, 1946, in Ames, the daughter of Mavis and Weldon Kingsbury. Her beginning school y ears were at Whittier in Ames. Later, she was a graduate of Boulder (Colo.) High School; Colorado State University and finished her master's degree at Iowa State University. Her education continued throughout her life.

She was a school counselor in Iowa; Seoul Korea; Okinawa, Japan; and Pellston, Mich.

She is survived by her mother, Mavis Kingsbury; her husband, David Spitzli; two daughters, Tracey (Maj. Aarons Sammons), and Sydney Spitzli; one stepson, Matthew Spitzli; and two granddaughters, Honna and Emily Sammons; two sisters, Audrey (Mark Cammack) and Debra (Steve Craig); and one brother, Lowell Kingsbury (Debra Ellis).

She was preceded in death by her father, Weldon Kingsbury.
