THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, December 2, 2005.
Ferris Kent Scott, 76, of Ankeny, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, in San Diego. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.
He was born April 8, 1929, in Cambridge, the son of Merrell G. and Melvessa Severson Scott. He married Grace Terhune April 17, 1949, in Waterloo. He worked at John Deere in Waterloo for 10 years and for Bridgestone- Firestone Tires for 32 years before he retired in 1975. He was the song leader in his church for several years and played lead guitar in the Comebackers, The Hawkeye Travelers and the Sparks Bands. He enjoyed playing at many charitable events throughout his retirement years.
He is survived by his wife, Grace of Ankeny; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kent and Laura Scott of Wausau, Wis., and Steven and Kelley Scott of Rosholt, Wis.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jan and Ray Houck of Corning and Nancy Fasse of Ankeny; 16 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Lynn Scott of Swaledale; and one sister, Zelda Chandler of Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Harold, Loren and Lyle; and one sister, Faye Geisler.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Cambridge Cemetery.
Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
