THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, December 1, 2005.

Lauren Elizabeth Alexander took her first steps in Heaven on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005.

Although Lauren was born with spina bifida and faced many trials in her short life, she faced each day with courage, patience and grace. She had a profound impact on the lives of countless family and friends and had a unique ability to touch the lives of even complete strangers with her smile and gentle spirit. She loved Jesus, people, her cat Nick, and her "babies," the Backstreet Boys, her church, Special Touch Summer Camp, crafts and music. All who knew her loved her, and our lives were enriched by our relationship with this special young woman. We rejoice in her complete healing and the knowledge that our relationship with her will be renewed in the presence of God.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at First Evangelical Free Church of Ames.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Special Touch Ministry, P.O. Box 25, Waupaca, WI, 54981.
